The Single Question in Dementia

SQiD is a validated toll that can be used to screen for delirium. It is a quick and simple method utilising the knowledge of the persons family, friends or carers.

Administer verbally, in person or over the phone, to the most appropriate relative, friend or carer

“Do you feel that (the persons name) has been more confused lately?”

The person does not need to be excluded from the discussions that generally follow on from this question, as they may be full aware they are experiencing delirium symptoms and this may be the first opportunity they have to share this.
